Thing 23...

Yey!!! I'm finished! I didn't think I was going to complete Library 2.0, but since I've regularly scheduled for it, I am now finished!!!!

Hmm, my favorite discoveries and exercises would have to be working with flicker, working with LibraryThing, and playing with youtube. I loved how user-friendly all of these sites were!

Truthfully, I don't believe that by completing Library 2.0 any of my lifelong learning goals have been impacted or have changed.

I think the biggest thing that surprised me about this program was the fact that I completed it. I really didn't think I would. I didn't really enjoy some of the exercises (especially the tagging, folksonomies and technorati section. It just wasn't as easy for me to understand or use compared to some of the other areas we explored that were so easy (image generators, podcasts, etc.)

I think you guys did a great job with helping everyone to get through the program (sending out weekly tips/messages and holding classes on it).

I think I would participate in another discovery program in the future. For the most part, aside from a few little frustrations in the middle, I had fun completing the discovery exercises.

Thing 22...

I explored ebooks... I have to say I am most definitely NOT a fan... I love holding a book in my hands and flipping through the pages. I looked up a book on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico, and each page took about 5 seconds (at least) to download, and I felt like it was really awkward to read it on the computer. I hate sitting in front of a computer to begin with, so I could just not imagine reading a several hundred page (actually not even a 50 page) book on-line.

I'll take the real thing any day...

Thing 21...

So, I added the RSS feed for the "Sunnyvale Public Library Podcasts" to my bloglines account.

I looked up some U2 podcasts from Yahoo Podcasts, and they had some great ones! U2's famed Joshua Tree album was released 20 years ago this week, so they are discussing the album on various podcasts...

Thing 20...

I explored youtube. I had to link this video into my blog... It's sooooo darn cute!!!
I know that youtube has a lot of junk on it, but they also have some awesomely cool things on it as well (old U2 videos, U2 concert videos, commercials from the 80's, etc. I have to admit that I'm a youtube junkie...

Thing 19...

Okay, this has definitely been my favorite exercise to date! What a great website and great idea!! I love the idea of having my own virtual library!

Here is the link to my library:

http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=yelenamarin

Most of the books I have on my list have quite a few people choosing them as their favorites. However, overall the Harry Potter books are definitely the most popular of my choices...

Thing 18...

Wow, zoho is a neat and simple tool! It's a pretty cool subsitute for someone who doesn't have access to MS Word...

Thing 17...

I added my blog to the favorite blogs page. I also added some bands I love to the favorite music page...

Thing 16...

I explored all the wiki links. I think wikis are an amazingly fantastic idea! It would be great to have a wiki for the SJ Library covering different procedures and maybe as a place where we could have "What would you do" examples (maybe ideas on handling difficult transactions/patrons). It would be great place for staff members to be kept up to date on procedures.

I never knew what a wiki was prior to this exercise. In the past I had used wikipedia, and found it to be really useful. I had no idea that people were going in and editing the content themselves!

Thing 15...

I'm just hoping that in my lifetime I never see a completely digital library. I do understand we have to embrace change and new technologies, but I still love going to a library and searching out books and information for myself. I don't want to read a book's contents on a computer screen...

Thing 14...

I typed in Learning 2.o into the technorati.com search box, and tons of results came up. I got 30,798 blog posts, 263 tags and 72 results for the blog directory search.
I explored technorati a bit and thought it was pretty cool. I decided to search for a couple of things that have been on my mind as of late, weddings and honeymoons, as I am getting married soon so it's all I think about. Anyways, some really cool and helpful links came up regarding wedding and honeymoon tips and different ideas from a variety of sources.

Thing 13...

Wow, del.icio.us is an awesome site! I have so many bookmarks on my computer, and it gets so confusing keeping track of them all. This is such a great way to group everything together and keep organized! When I go to grad school, I know this site is going to come in handy!

Thing 12...

I created my own searchroll, you can see the link to the right...
I have to say that rollyo.com is a pretty cool site. It's funny, I thought that I was pretty in the know regarding the internet, but while working on web 2.0, I've come to find that there is A LOT of stuff that I did not know about, with rollyo.com being one of them...

Thing 11...

I looked at craigslist. I loooove this site! I love how simple it is, and I love how you can find everything here! Whether you want to rent a house, look for a job, or purchase concert tickets, you can do it all on craigslist!

Thing 10...

Here is the image I created. Anbyody who knows me knows I have had a slight obsessions with U2 since I was 5 or so.
I used: www.imagechef.com to come up with this image.

Thing 9...

I subscribed to a couple of library-related feeds on bloglines. I found it easy to search for various feeds...

Thing 8...

Wow, this whole bloglines thing completely confused me! I signed up for 11 feeds, but I'm not sure if I will ever use this site again... :o(

I have to say that ipods are a dream come true for music lovers!!! How can one not love that you can carry around hundreds of CD's worth of music!!! Everytime I go on a long car drive, I'm thankful for my ipod. It was tiresome, as well as a pain, to have to lug around a bunch of cd's in my car.

Week 1

My very first post...
